Imagine a world where someone can see what you do, rule everyone and decide your entire future. “Does that sound fair?” “No!” Democracy is the world’s best type of government. It gives people (you) the right to vote and protest. For example in Australia voting is compulsory and if you don’t vote you get a fine.
In a Democracy everyone with identity has the right to vote. Whoever has been chosen for government will always do what they have promised for, and if not then the people have the right to reject and have a new leader. Democracy includes freedom of speech and fairness in elections for everyone.
Democracy does not always mean the person you vote for will become the government. If you are under eighteen then you can’t be in the voting part for democracy. The word Democracy means “people rule”. This word comes from the ancient Greek language.
There are three types of government, Local is the one for your suburb, State is for your entire state like Victoria and Federal is for the entire country. At the end this process ensures that everyone has the right to say and use their voice. Who wouldn’t want to use their voice?
Dictatorship
In a dictatorship, there is only one person who rules the entire country. Also it means you are trapped just like inside a video game. And the worst part is that your future is decided! Dictatorship can also lead to captivity and early life deaths, this can happen because of disobedience, different religion and people who go against in political ways. Right now in North Korea there is a real dictator called Kim Jong-un.
He is the current dictator and is ruling everyone, jailing people and deciding their futures. Another example is in Syria, where there is this dictator called Bashar al-Assad. Just like North Korea, Syria is being controlled by this one person who can see what you do all day. The most interesting part of North Korea is that Kim Jong-un has put security around the entire country so no one can escape yet.
Monarchy
A monarchy is when there are kings and queens that rule the country sitting inside their royal palace or fort. Is it fair if some king or queen just decides the fate of millions and billions? Not at all! If you don’t listen to the king or queen then the guards have the right from the king or queen to lock you up in the dungeons. The worst thing is that, if your crime or mistake is very bad then you can get physical penalties.
Having a king or queen in your nation can include guards coming into houses taking things like food, water and equipment. While if you are in the royal family itself then there is a high chance that you could rule as king or queen. In the United kingdom there is a current king called “King Charles”. Luckily the power of royal families has gone down. This means that kings or queens cannot decide your fate like before. Now it is unquestionably that having no monarchy provides peace, freedom, equality, voice and your own rights.
Oligarchy
Would you like to be bossed around by a group of powerful people that think they know what is right for you? An oligarchy is a small or medium size of group that establishes what is right for zillions of innocent people. They are usually wealthy or come from a wealthy generation. If you are in the special, crucial and wrecking group then you can negotiate with others before you decide what to do for the country.
Although if you are not in the important group then you have to face what they decide and follow what they say without asking. The power, freedom and money all belong to them. In Sparta which used to be called Ancient Sparta there used to be an oligarchy, but now it is gone and it’s lost all the power it used to have. This proves that oligarchy should obviously not be repeated ever again.
Totalitarianism
Under a totalitarian government people have to follow a strict form of government authoritarianism where the person can control everybody including public and private life. If you are the ruler then you have the advantage of living a king-like life. If you live in a state with totalitarianism then the ruler will decide your entire journey including what you do and who you work for.
In Cambodia there used to be a ruler that died and now his son is still ruling with power. People have somehow escaped Cambodia and now live a much more peaceful life around the world.
Anarchy
Another terrible form of government is anarchy. Anarchy is a political concept where there are no rules, laws and government. There would be an absence of government. This means that you can do anything without getting in trouble, getting a fine or getting arrested. You are free in anarchy. But who will support the poor?
There is no one that can protect the poor in an anarchy. This is because they don’t know how to have their own say. Living in an anarchy is undeniably, unquestionably and unreasonably unlivable, however in a democracy you are free but with certain laws that keep the world at peace.
Ultimately at the end in a dictatorship someone decides your future, a monarchy makes you a slave with no rights to speak. The oligarchy that makes you get controlled by a group of people who don’t know what is right for you, then comes totalitarianism where one person controls you like a poppet, with the worst of all anarchy where there is no government. All these problems are gone when you have…
Democracy!!!
It ensures
Freedom,
Rights,
Voice,
Equality,
Peace
and SAFETY!
And who wouldn’t want that!?
